The Core Training/ Lower Back Pain Rehabilitative Exercise Sessions are available for athletes or any individual looking specifically to improve their core strength and for individuals suffering from recurrent lower back pain.
As explained in our series of articles core stability training and lower back pain, the core is a collective term for the stabilizing muscles of the kinetic chain. The “lower” core where the body’s center of gravity is located and where all movement originates. It also serves to anchor and stabilize the spine and to assist with the transfer of forces between the upper and lower body. The “upper” core consists of muscles that stabilize the shoulder girdle. Therefore core training is some of the most important exercises for performance improvement in athletes as well.
The exercise system we use for low back pain rehabilitation is the Australian method for spinal segmental stabilization. This method has been demonstrated to be effective in permanently relieving lower back pain, especially in cases such as spondylothesis (excessive movement of the vertebrae), lumbo-pelvic instability and postural problems. Following your initial functional/sports specific assessment, exercise specialist David Petersen will devise a comprehensive core/spinal stabilization program and work with you one-on-one to help strengthen this key area of the body.
