Functional fitness or specific sports fitness assessment is intended for athletes, sportsmen and women, and those individuals who have had some previous experience in exercise training and whose goals are to increase performance in their sport and the overall function of their body. The assessment looks to identify any muscle imbalances and energy leaks in the body to allow for increased performance in functional activities and sport. Please complete the New Client Questionnaire in its entirety before participating in this assessment, as it will provide us with valuable information about you.

This service is intended for those individuals who suffer from running injuries that may stem from faulty foot biomechanics. Excessively arched (supinated) or flat (pronated) feet may lead to stress injuries of the lower leg bones especially the tibia (see article on Shin Pain). A comprehensive biomechanic assessment of your feet by exercise scientist David Petersen will help in suggesting the correct running shoe for your specific condition. David also analyzes old running shoe wear patterns to get an indication of the foot mechanics from heelstrike to toe off. Body composition assessment is offered to any individual wanting to monitor changes in their body composition and to evaluate the efficiency of their personal training routine. The Bioelectrical Impedance Assessment (BIA) using the Bodystat 1500 is able to detect even slight changes in both fat loss and lean tissue gain, thus allowing for renewed confidence and adherence to the exercise routine. This assessment will also determine the Basal Metabolic Rate BMR and the Estimated Average Requirement or EAR. In addition, this assessment will determine hydration status, which is particularly important for distance runners. The assessment is also intended for B.O.S.S. Fitness clients as a means of reassessment.
